Women’s Gosford Hospital Oncology Ward Charity Day
24 October 2024Shelly Beach Women have held their annual Gosford Hospital Oncology Inpatient Unit Charity Day on Wednesday 23rd October. Events got underway with an 8am shotgun start playing a fun filled 4 person team event. This was followed by lunch and then some serious fundraising with raffles, auction items and a lucky numbers pick of the table. The 123 women who played all dressed in various shades of Pink and were very generous with $4,000 raised on the day.
Since the annual event started in 2011 almost $42,000 has been raised which has been used to purchase items to improve the care and comfort of cancer patients. These include a syringe driver, computer on wheels and a day bed.
Big thank you to member Gai Palmer who generously donated big raffle items which were won by Therese Proust and Di Robinson. Therese Proust also generously donated a fancy portable bbq which went to the top bid from Sue Wilcockson. This fundraising event is always generously supported by the club and once again the Shelly Beach Pro Shop donated a Women’s golf outfit for auction and GM Jeff donated a Putter and Putting lesson. Both items sparked a bidding war and raised some great dollars for a place that many of us potentially will need or may have a close friend or family member using its services. Well done to Mandy Giddings who was top bidder for the Golf Outfit and to Moira Shoveller who now has a brand new Putter plus lesson!
Congratulations to our clever golf winners, Deb Hannon, Leanne Allomes, Linda Hodges and Cathy Donald who posted a great score of 97 points and well done to everyone at SBGC who pulled together to do some good work.
Everyone in great spirits before teeing off!
